If you have a child that just refuses to eat, well, join the bandwagon because you are not alone. Many parents especially mothers worry about the nutritional content of their child as they do not even eat the proper portion of food each day. However, you can use these tips until your child’s food preferences do not change.

Respect your child’s appetite
If your child is not hungry then no need to force feed them. This can do more harm than good to the health of your child. Also avoid bribing your child to forcefully complete what’s on his plate. This will make him believe that meals are nothing but frustration and doing something he does not enjoy. It is better to give them small portions and encourage them to ask for more when they need more.

Stick to the food schedule
Always serve the food and snacks at the same time each day. Over a period of time, your child will get conditioned to feel hungry around that time. Offer water between food and milk or juice between snacks to keep them full during meals.

Expose your child to new foods slowly
When the child is still young, they may try new food and take that back out again if the taste is not familiar. It does not mean that he doesn’t like it. Slowly introduce them to new foods by acquainting them with the smell, texture, shape and aroma.

Make the food fun not an obligation
Children will always be excited to try things that are fun. You can serve nutritious veggies with a tasty side dip or sauce. Use cookie cutters to cut fruits in various shapes and sizes. Use colored fruits to get his attention.
