The biggest mistakes high school kids make

This is a very delicate time for your kids. They are not that young anymore, they are starting to become adults and school definitely isn’t something they want to attend.
We want to alert you to potential problems you may occur when your kid goes to high school. We know it is not easy for you.

First year is maybe the most problematic one, because everything is new to them, they still don’t have their group of friends, and of course they hate school. Since it is only the beginning their marks will not be their priority. Most of them will avoid any form of studying, so you need to pay attention to that potential problem.

A lot of them are ashamed of asking any questions when it comes to their school subjects. Even when they don’t understand something, they will not be brave enough to ask their teachers to explain them. Encourage them to do that and try to explain them that it is completely normal to ask if you don’t understand something.

When they are teenagers, school for them is a place for having fun with their friends, for gossiping, not a place where they will learn something new and to be interested in knowledge acquisition.

Of course fun and friends are important parts of every school, but let’s not forget about its primary purpose.

Your kids will often tell you that they don’t need any help. If that happens don’t believe them, because they probably won’t admit it, cause they think they are old enough to handle any situation.
