Blind man’s walk

Blind man’s walk

Children who do not go out and play outdoor games become very lethargic and obese and are prone to many diseases like diabetes. This is really becoming a point of concern in today’s generation. They need to go out and play more often and stay physically fit. Outdoor games act as stress busters for children. Other than getting fresh air and sunlight it keeps children fit and on their toes. One such game to lure them outside is Blind Man’s Walk. Create an obstacle path from one end to the other in an open area, field or a yard. Then line up the contestants. Let them have a good look at the obstacles and the path. Then the contestants are supposed to cross the path without looking that is blind folded. The first person to reach the end is declared the winner.

In this game it is important to see that any obstacle used, does not cause any harm or injury to the children. Every time new obstacles can be introduced to bring in variety. Along with being physically active this game requires having a good memory and is mentally challenging too, as the contestant needs to remember the path and follow the right direction without seeing. To make the game little difficult for older children they should be made to do a 360 degree turn and then start walking the path. Any sort of physically activity is a necessity for any child and what can be more alluring than playing games outdoor.
